To get an accurate result, keep three things handy:

Your planned (or actual) date of return — the financial year you land in changes everything.

Days spent in India in each of the last 10 financial years. Pull these from passport stamps or your immigration/travel records. US-based NRIs can use their I-94 history. Count arrival and departure days as full days.

A realistic estimate of days per year you’ll spend in India after returning. Most people stay ~330; if you’ll travel abroad for long stretches, lower it — it can extend your window.
