Rupeeflo is an NRI-focused financial services company building infrastructure that makes cross-border banking and investing seamless for the global Indian diaspora. Rupeeflo is acquiring Payment Service Provider License at GIFT City under the IFSCA (Payment Services) Regulations, 2024, and are building a payments platform serving foreign investors, merchants, and GIFT City funds covering escrow infrastructure with virtual accounts, a payment gateway for GIFT City funds, and investment products for foreign investors in partnership with regulated institutions. About the Role
The Principal Officer is an IFSCA-designated position and will serve as the head of Rupeeflo's GIFT City office, covering regulatory governance, operations, business development, and team building as the office grows. You will be Rupeeflo's primary interface with IFSCA and statutory authorities, while simultaneously driving commercial relationships with GIFT City funds, foreign investors, merchants, and institutional partners. This role reports directly to Rupeeflo's leadership.
What You’ll Do
Regulatory governance
Serve as designated Principal Officer under IFSCA (Payment Services) Regulations, 2024, ensuring full compliance with applicable regulations, circulars, and reporting requirements.
Act as primary point of contact with IFSCA, GIFT SEZ authorities, and auditors, handling inspections, queries, and submissions.
Oversee licensing, renewals, and product or service approvals from IFSCA across all platform activities.
Operations
Oversee day-to-day operations of the GIFT City entity including escrow and virtual account infrastructure, payment gateway operations, and settlement and reconciliation processes.
Ensure operational controls, governance processes, and internal reporting frameworks are in place and functioning.
Business development
Drive BD across GIFT City funds, foreign investors, merchants, and institutional partners requiring payment gateway and virtual account services.
Represent Rupeeflo at IFSC events, forums, and with regulatory and industry bodies.
Build and manage the local GIFT City team as headcount scales.
Must-Have Skills
Deep understanding of IFSCA regulations, particularly the IFSCA (Payment Services) Regulations, 2024.
Hands-on experience in payment services, cross-border payments, or financial infrastructure in a regulated environment.
Track record of building commercial relationships with funds, banks, FPIs, or payment ecosystem partners.
Ability to manage a regulated entity end-to-end, balancing regulatory requirements with business objectives.
Strong written and verbal communication; credible in regulatory and commercial settings.
Good to Have
Prior experience within GIFT City or another IFSC entity.
Existing network within the GIFT City ecosystem.
Familiarity with FEMA regulations as they apply to cross-border payments and foreign investor flows.
Qualifications
5+ years in financial services, payments, or a regulated IFSC entity, with experience in a senior regulatory, compliance, or business leadership role.
Graduate degree in Finance, Commerce, Law, or Engineering; postgraduate qualification preferred.
IFSCA Fit and Proper Criteria: The appointed individual must satisfy IFSCA's fit and proper criteria: a graduate degree from a recognised university; relevant financial services experience; no prior conviction for any offence involving moral turpitude or economic offence; no prior debarment or disqualification by IFSCA, SEBI, RBI, or any financial sector regulator; and financial integrity with no outstanding dues to a regulator. A fit and proper declaration will be required.
