Opening a Bank account or DEMAT Account as a Non-Resident Indian (NRI) has traditionally involved a lengthy notarization process, often requiring visits to an Indian embassy or a local notary familiar with Indian legal formats, followed by mailing physical copies to India. This added both cost and complexity, with delays and rejections common if documents did not meet India’s strict legal requirements.
